Composition
My freshman year "Composition" Vocabulary Shoot is located here. There are only six terms in this unit, but they are all very powerful and the images that can be drawn in regards to each of them say a lot about photography. In short, composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject. There is a special, natural aspect about each and every one of these elements of composition and they make photography what it is. My best photos from each category are displayed below. I hope you enjoy them!
Framing
Framing refers to using elements of a scene to create a frame within your frame.
Figure Ground
Figure Ground Relationship is a clear distinction between figure (subject) and ground (background). A light figure on a dark background, or a dark figure on a light background, is the clearest possible way to define your subject.
Viewpoint
The position where you take the photograph from.
